Please be aware of your options regarding health insurance for you and/or your dependents in a divorce. If you have been covered under a spouse’s health plan, you might want to continue that plan under COBRA if the premiums and coverage are more beneficial than what is available to you elsewhere. You are entitled to COBRA continuation, but it may not be your most cost effective solution. It may be wise to leave dependents on a plan with an ex, but be sure you know if that plan is either discontinued or changed. We’ve experienced both.
